Fostex 168S in 9.9 Liter Cabinet An idea to limit bass response, maximize clarity and increase 'warmth' with this driver. It's very good in 48 and 24 liter cabinets but has a tendency to sound forward. Adding a bass 'bump' in previous cabinets helps fill out the sound but when adding a subwoofer bass can sound overblown and retains forward quality. This experiment is to reduce cabinet size in an effort to increase output in mid-bass, purposely exclude deep bass and fill with appropriate sub.
According to WinISD there is a 1 to 2 db mid-bass boost from 100hz to 400hz. Ultimate bass extension suffers but without the shelved down mid-bass. Listening tests will confirm or not confirm computer results.
